MPI Accessories

The UV or black light assembly is available as a combined composite unit consisting of light source and power pack. The U V bulb has a filter to allow only UV light of 365 nm wavelength, which is most suitable for crack detection. All other harmful radiations are filtered by this filter glass. At the backside, a cooling fan is provided which ensures that the temperature of the bulb does not exceed and the bulb remains on for a longer time. The bulb is also provided with a light handle having a pilot Lamp and an operating switch. The weight of the light source with handle is less than 850 gms. The light source is connected to the power pack through a three meter cable. The bulb has a life of minimum 2000 hours under normal condition of working. The intensity of life coming out is between 2500 to 4500 at 15 inches distance. The power pack is a metallic box having electrical gadgets enabling the light to work at 220 V single-phase supply. The box is portable having handle for lifting.

A highly conductive and flexible surface provided on head stock and tail stock enlarges the area of contact thereby limiting the temperature rise likely to be caused due to passing of high magnitude electric current. Copper Mesh flexible contact pads developed by FerroChem provide the ideally expected “Highly conductive and flexible surfaces”. Copper Mesh contact pads from FerroChem are manufactured from specially developed “Soft” copper braids and sheets of electrolytic grade. Copper Mesh flexible pads from FerroChem are “Made to order” as per the sizes of head and tail stocks of the MPI equipment on which they are intended to be used. Copper Mesh Pads with double layer are also available which can be used from both the sides thus providing a longer life. Single layer or double layer copper mesh contact pads are available as a pair.

Centrifuge tube is used for checking the concentration of the powder particles in the freshly prepared Bath for MPI. FerroChem make pear shaped 100ml glass centrifuge tube is manufactured to meet the requirements of ASTM Standard. The tube is duly graduated and has a least count of 0.05 ml and 0.1 ml. This ensures the accurate reading of the settling of powder particles. Centrifuge Tube is supplied with suitable stand for keeping it upright while checking the bath concentration. It is available as a set and is accompanied by the test certificate.

Magnetic Field Indicator is the most important gadget used in MPI for setting the current parameters required to test the particular component. It indicates the direction and adequacy of the current passing through the component. The MFI is manufactured to meet the requirements of the relevant ASTM Standard and is provided with a Test Certificate having proper traceability. It is available in a wooden box and is accompanied by the test certificate.

FerroChem has developed a special suspension medium Test Oil to meet the requirements of ASTM Standards. It is odorless, colorless, viscosity up to 3 CSt., flash point above 93ºC, have low sulphur & chlorine contents. This is the perfect replacement to kerosene, which is other wise used as a suspension medium for MPI in India. There are various other advantages of test oil, which make the running, cost to affordable range. It is available in standard packing of 20 Ltr. and 200 Ltr.

It is meant for protection of hands of the operators doing MPI. The dehydration caused by the use of kerosene is prevented by the use of barrier cream. Barrier Cream is a compound with mineral oils and waxes, which forms a protective film against many harmful chemicals even if hands are washed. It is available in 500 gm pack.

FerroChem has developed Residual Field Indicator to check the level of demagnetization of a component, which is being demagnetized. Very low magnetic field to the tune of ±3 gauss can be sensed with this RFI. In order to make the RFI operator friendly two coloured bands are provided on the dial. If the pointer is in the green band then it indicates proper level of demagnetization i.e. the residual field is less than ±3 gauss. If the pointer is in red band then it indicates that the residual magnetic field is more than ±3 gauss and the component needs to be demagnetized once again. It is available in a wooden box and is accompanied by the test certificate.

Prods are used with the portable or mobile type of MPI machines for establishing a proper electrical contact with the component during magnetization and passing the desired current through it. They are manufactured out of electrolytic grade copper and are attached to the handles, which are connected to the cables. A remote control switch is also provided with the prod assembly for carrying out the operation from a distance.
